In April 2007 I had a housefire in which a lot was lost not just to the flames but the attempts to put out the fire, during the wait to be allowed to salvage our property and indeed the clean up process. We didn't lose as much as some, and we had some minor miracles where precious momentos were saved, for which we are eternally grateful.
I have uploaded several photos of the devastation however as it has been a stressful time I have not found myself able to share more so far.
One costume that was nearly lost was my Millenium Phoenix, a costume I made in December 1999 for a costume party. It is now sooty and too hard to wash clean. Only the wings remain and they are now pinned to my sewing room wall.
It has been a very expensive process and for the next few years a lot of money will be spent repairing, restoring and replacing. This site was down for a while during this time due to other circumstances not related but not helped by this time!
Due to also dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis it has been very hard emotionally and physically to deal with all the repairing of my costumes that has to happen. It is happening, but very slowly.
