Unfinished Not strictly historical, but certainly influenced by historical costuming in film as well as fashion plates c1876 when asymmetry was a key fashion element. I designed this in 2001 after procuring a shot green saree with a real metal copper border. The border is rather wide on this saree and it just begged to be used in some highly theatrical gown. The fabric is pale green shot with silvery white so it really just increases the amount of light reflected back rather than creating a two tone effect. The underskirt fabric is a yellow and blue shot shantung and has been already used in a previous costume. I decided to call this my absinthe gown due to the colour and the various influences from other designs.
