c1876 blue taffeta dinner dress

January 1997 Blue taffeta evening dress based on a pattern in Patterns of Fashion 2 and a fashion plate in Harper's Bazaar from 1876 (the same plate that inspired Eiko Ishioka for her iconic Red Dress in Bram Stoker's Dracula). Made from stiff blue and black shot taffeta with non-stretch non-crush panne velvet collar and trimming. The velvet was toned from a warm to a cool blue with home dyeing.
