c1560 cleves linen dress
index | intro | site map | site changes | chronology | contact February 2007 I was inspired by woodcuts in Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus ( Diverse clothing of the nations of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America) in creating a dress for the summer. I chose to make it from red linen lined in black linen to keep it as breathable as possible for the summer but also to keep in line with the colours most often seen in a variety of artwork not just woodcuts.
